Traditional memory foam mattresses use a high density, moisture resistant material that retains significant heat. As a result hot restless nights and de-hydration are common problems.
The high specification foam mattress has overcome this with an ingenious design feature. Individual structures called castellations respond independently to pressure, moulding to the shape of the body, whilst channels between these structures allow air to circulate, drawing excess heat and moisture away from the skin.
Where most foam mattresses provide a uniform level of support from top to toe, a high specification foam mattress is built around a zoned core, offering differential support for different parts of the body. The most pliable zones accommodate vulnerable areas like the head, neck, shoulders and feet whilst other areas are afforded firmer support promoting a healthy posture and ensuring correct alignment of the spine during sleep.
Unlike memory foam which responds gradually to heat, high specification foam responds on contact to mould around and support the contours of the body. The new high density polymer provides the ultimate in comfort and postural alignment and a superior sleep experience.
The benefits of high specification foam have been tried and tested by the Department of Health. It is currently the only such material to be endorsed by the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE).
